Mega-VR


The task

How can we use VR- and AR-applications to create immersive learning experiences? How can virtual-reality courses provide users with concrete experiences of the content and, therefore, generate a high level of learning success? How can we purposefully use the self-paced exploration of 3D environments?

Using the example “aftersales in the automotive industry”, we created a sample solution to this task. In this project, we are looking at the benefits offered by the new aftersales approaches from different perspectives: Customers learn, which services they can be looking forward to. Dealers find out how to make the most of the digital transformation to benefit their sales. Service employees can improve their skills by adopting the soon-to-be-available methods and tools.

In this exemplary project, users can experience the contents from two different sides: from the perspective of the customer and from the point of view of a service employee.


The implementation

Our application lets users experience an exemplary aftersales scenario in the year 2025. Taking the role of a customer, users start in a futuristic house. They can operate a control panel that spans an entire wall. On this panel, they can order the product special “Racing Power” for their car at an introductory price. After the order has been placed, the user’s virtual vehicle drives autonomously to the car dealer.

There, the scenario shifts to the perspective of the service employee. In this environment, users can operate an AR interface inside the VR world. This way, they can – for example – diagnose problems in the car.
